Ken Bailey believes that every American Citizen (regardless of race, religion, gender, age, or political views) has the right to live one’s life without interference from the government if he or she does not violate or infringe upon the rights of others. He believes everyone has the right to freedom of religion, freedom of speech and press, and freedom to assemble peacefully. He believes it is the right of citizens to bear arms for protection and to preserve our freedom. He believes all citizens have the right to be secure in their homes and enjoy their property without the fear of being searched, seized, or violated without probable cause. He believes the accused should have a speedy, public, and fair trial. He believes in innocent until proven guilty. He believes that deputies and police officers are here to PROTECT AND SERVE our citizens.
Ken Bailey has over 41 years joint experience in the military and law enforcement. He is a man of high integrity. He believes in being honest and open with all persons. He is trustworthy, responsible, and dependable. He is compassionate and respectful of others. He is service oriented and takes pride in his work ethics and in helping others. He is a man of his word and keeps his promises.
Ken Bailey is a natural born leader. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty six years. He worked as a Crew Chief on the C130 Aircraft, as an Aerospace Flight Engineer on the C5 and 707 Aircraft. He has over 7,000 flying hours as an aircrew member with over 4,000 of them being combat hours. His last tour of duty was with Homeland Security working at the Interagency Task Force South at Key West Naval Air Station where he worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Central Intelligence Agency, Customs & Border Protection, and Immigration & Customs Enforcement. During this tour, he was able to stop 87,992 kilos of cocaine valued at 1.8 trillion dollars and 17,934 pounds of marijuana valued at 17 million dollars from reaching the streets of America.
Ken served in Jefferson County for fifteen years as a Deputy Sheriff, Corporal and Field Training Officer. However, his morals and values could not allow him to continue to serve there after a soft -on-crime democrat was elected as Sheriff of Jefferson County. Ken believes if a person commits a crime that he or she should be arrested, charged and given his or her day in Court. Ken currently serves as a Police Officer with Vestavia Hills Police Department. He appreciates that the administration at VHPD respects and supports the officers.
Ken is a great communicator, influencer, and delegator. He serves and protects with courage, gratitude, respect, and empathy for others. He believes in leading by example, inspiring, encouraging, and listening to other law enforcement officers and to other ideas. He is committed to serving and protecting the citizens of Alabama.
